I like having a few attractive serving platters and trays to display fresh fruit, light food items or deserts for special occasions or just when friends drop in for a visit. When I saw this attractive serving tray on the Amazon site, I decided to order it.
Features: 1) The tray is quite attractive, and really catches the eye. The sheen of the off white and black coloring of the mother of pearl inlay compliments the light brown coloring of the rattan. 2) The back of the tray also has a slight sheen, it is solid black and stable when placed on a flat surface. The back appears to be made of plastic or maybe particle board. There are some visible imperfections on the back, resulting in a few rough spots and scratches which were painted over by the black paint. 3) Per the seller, the rattan is hand woven. The weaving of the rattan is excellently done. 4) The inside of the tray with the mother of pearl inley has distently visible up down texture that can also be felt by rubbing your hand across the tray. 5) The circumference of the tray is approximately 11.5″, with an inside serving circumference of approximately 11″. The depth of the tray is approximately 1″. 6) The packaging did not include any care instructions. Note: Before placing my tray out, I used a few wet paper towels with a little dish soap to clean the inside of the tray. Then I used a few more damp paper towels to clear out the dish soap. Then let it air dry.
The lack of care instructions and the imperfections on the back of the tray are the reasons for the 4 star rating. All in all, I like this 4 star serving tray. It is very attractive and is durable enough to serve fresh fruit and other moderately weighted items. For now, I have mine sitting on the coffee table in our somewhat formal living room. I think it’s too pretty to hide away in the box or in a cabinet.

This little beauty sits on my ottoman and is very versatile. Not only is it decorative, but it’s also a functional and can hold drinks! I’m always figuring out how to balance things. This little tray is smaller than I would have hoped, but it does have the measurements to be fair. The flatness is the only thing in question for me. It is quite flat if I am talking about placing a mug on top of it, but a champagne glass… That’s a different story. The more delicate the base the more it might teeter on this Tray.
The decorative tiles are not as even and look a little bit hand-placed which is its charm. While it’s charming and beautiful, it does require maybe a coaster or something for something more dainty like a champagne flute.

I adore trays and have them in many colors, textures, and styles. But I usually am not that fond of rattan. However, the mother of pearl in the colors of black, cream, and white against the rattan looked so striking and was such a beautiful contrast that I decided to take the plunge. I am so glad that I did because the tray looks just as nice in person and is quite durable. Moreover, the tray has held up nicely over the past three months as it has been used on several occasions from serving beverages to displaying décor. It is a great find, and a great addition to my cluster of trays.
